We’re delighted to report that Raw Skills City u13’s have been crowned winners of Division 1 of the Mid Sussex League – 22/23

They went into their last 2 games needing a win to clinch the title after a long and tiring season and thankfully they claimed the title in their penultimate game with a hard fought 2 -0 win over ASC Strikers FC. Just to finish off in style, we beat Alfold 5-3 in the final match and the celebrations begun.

The boys have had an excellent season winning 18 out of 20 of their matches which is an outstanding achievement in a very competitive league. We have really enjoyed our transition into the Mid Sussex League which culminated in this success

We are seeking 2 or 3 new players for next season where hopefully we can defend our title

Saturday 17th saw the welcome return of the annual Tonbridge Junior Football Fiesta at the Racecourse Ground and Raw Skills FC won the U11 6 a side tournament. Having drawn the first and lost the second matches, the team thought it was an early journey home but they rallied, despite the searing heat and then won the last 4 group games, quarter final, semi final and then final against Rusthall beating them 1-0 on a golden goal in the second minute of a 5 minute extra time period! Huge effort from all the 9 boys involved and congratulations to the boys, parents and managers involved. Roll on next season !

About The Team:

The Cobras have been playing in the Epsom & Ewell league for the past two seasons. The league consists of 12 divisions and we have mainly been playing in the second division. We have found the standard of football extremely competitive and most games are very close. Our home games are played in Queen’s Park, Caterham-on-the-hill on Saturday mornings. Training is held at Oxted school on Tuesday evenings (maybe Wednesday next season) between 18.30 and 19.30.

We encourage the boys to play football in the ‘right way’, with particular emphasis on passing, movement, ball retention and keeping the ball on the ground. Whilst we encourage the boys to play to their potential and to be competitive, we also encourage good sportsmanship, respect for their coaches, team mates and the referee.

We are excited about our prospect for the coming season and look forward to welcoming some new players into our squad!

Saturday 8th June saw the annual Raw Skills Presentation Day return to Glebe Field to celebrate the players, managers, admins and parents who have made the 19/20 season a great success.

Despite the dreadful weather there was a great turnout from those involved, with both the Raw Skills Soccer School AND Raw Skills FC coming together for a joint presentation day for the first time.

Raw Skills FC upholds to the highest standard of football and has been awarded the Charter Standard certificate which certifies that the club delivers the values which appeal to players, coaches and officials and represents that the club offers the very best in grass roots football and a place where everyone can enjoy that.

The RAW Skills AGM is open to all members of the club, so please do come along if you can make it. Some useful topics will be covered including, Child Welfare, Charter Development, Social Events.

The meeting will also see the appointment of our new Chairman, Paul Haywood.

In addition there will be time to answer questions from the floor. The club is run by parents for you so please attend if you can.

RAW Skills Football Club is delighted to announce that it has agreed a sponsorship deal with Artemis Investment Management for the under 11 age group for the 2018/19 season. This is the second time that Artemis has sponsored RAW Skills teams. The money will be used to fund new football kit, coaching equipment, first aid equipment and other essential items. RAW Skills FC’s aims are to provide the opportunity for as many youngsters (aged 7 to 16) as possible to play football regularly in a fun, supportive and positive environment, and it is great to see Artemis continuing to help the club to those ends. RAW Skills FC Chairman Tim Connolly said, “Many thanks to Artemis for their continued support to the club. It means a great deal to us and we are absolutely delighted that the firm has decided to back us once again.” Thank you Artemis and this year more than any other our players will be fired up after a very exciting World Cup. So let’s play some great football!
